So Battlestar Galactica star Katee Sackhoff has revealed that she auditioned for the role of Emma Swan but lost out to Jennifer Morrison. I can’t even begin to imagine anyone else in the role now.
I don’t care if some of them are cliches, I really love the parallels this show draws both in dialogue and in visual representations. What I like the most about this gifset is that Emma has a link to her father. She’s already formed a bond with Mary Margaret, but this just reminds me that, had she grown up in FTL, Emma probably would have been a daddy’s girl. James would have taken her riding and taught her how to use a sword or a bow and arrow. He would have encouraged and nurtured her strong, independent spirit and found it as delightful as he found the same thing in Snow.
I really liked the dual scenes in the finale where Emma channels her father’s strength and determination when fighting Maleficent. It was actually heartening to see her be like him on instinct, as though his presence was always inside her but, like the citizens of Storybrooke, had been smothered by a long dreamlike existence. Only, for Emma, it was more like a nightmare.
I want to see Emma develop this next season. I want to see her become heroic and noble. I want her to be strong when others can’t be, and develop an unshakeable belief in the power of true love. Because, really, it’s about time that Emma experienced it, isn’t it?

“You’re not my mom! I hate you and I hate living here!
Moments later, Henry’s bedroom door slammed with such force that it seemed the very house itself shook.
At the foot of the stairs, Regina’s chin sunk to her chest, shoulders bowing under the weight of Henry’s anger. He had returned from dinner with Emma under a reluctant, recalcitrant cloud. Squirming out of her embrace, he had pulled away with disgust tugging at his mouth, his hands pushing at Regina as though she were the very Devil himself.
Sighing, Regina shook her head. Sometimes she thought she was, particularly when viewing herself through Henry’s eyes.

“Come to the fair,” Emma grumbled to herself as she stomped across the stage of Storybrooke’s only theater. “It’s your civic duty,” she added in a sing-song mocking tone, throwing up her hands.
Regina had been insistent, first trying to seduce Emma into attending the Storybrooke Summer Fayre and then, when that failed to work, demanding it. She had cited several paragraphs from the town’s city code which, she explained, stated that the Sheriff’s duties weren’t solely restricted to whatever it was Emma did all day in her office.
